Other possible causes for confidence test failure may be that the LVDT/load cell is not properly
adjusted.
Incorrect Load Values
Problem:
The load value displayed in the Instrument Status window is much greater than zero, even
when the shaft is floating free/not resting on the beam.
Solution(s):
Recalibrate at the test temperature for Force, Deflection and Compliance (refer to
Calibration section for instructions). If values are still incorrect after a successful calibration,
continue with the diagnostics below:
Test the TE-BBR for correct voltage readings for Force:
1.
Locate the TE-BBR test cable with the phono plug on one end and two alligator clips at the other
end (cable is shipped with the instrument).
2.
Obtain a voltmeter and adjust to a scale of 10 volts DC or the next higher scale setting.
3.
Locate the RCA phono jack labeled Force on the rear of the Control Unit.
4.
Plug the test cable into the Force
jack and connect the alligator clips to the DC voltmeter (red-
positive; black-negative).
5.
Make sure that the BBR power is on.
6.
Read the voltage from the voltmeter. If the voltage is not within a few tenths of a volt of 0, the
output voltage may need to be adjusted.
If the reading is several volts, it may be possible to readjust the output to "0" by using the method
outlined in this section.
