f. Remove the gage block from the Load Platform.
g. Place the 6.35 mm (1/4 inch) thick steel beam on the beam supports
h. Carefully lower the shaft until the tip rests on the beam.
i. Record the voltage as NO LOAD voltage.
j. Add a 100-gram weight to the Load Platform.
k. Record the voltage as the 100-GRAM voltage.
l. Call the Service department at Cannon Instrument Company and report the voltage levels
obtained with this diagnostic.
Temperature Reading Error
Problem: The temperature reading displayed on the computer appears incorrectly.
Solution(s): The calibration constants for the temperature probe (supplied with the manual
documentation) were not entered correctly in the software Instrument Setup property sheet. Click
on
Setup and Instrument Setup from the Main Menu to check if these constants are correct before
further examining reasons for the temperature error.
Temperature Probe
If the temperature display does not show a change when the bath is changing temperature, check
the thermistor probe cable connections on the rear of the control unit and validate that the
connections are secure.
If connections are secure and the temperature display still does not change as the bath is changing
temperature, the temperature probe may be faulty. Unplug the thermistor cable from the back of
the Load Frame (note the arrangement of the pins on the connector at the back of the Load Frame).
Pins 1 and 2 are the first pins counter-clockwise from the keyway as shown in Figure 23.

Measure the probe resistance across pins 1 and 2 with an ohmmeter. The resistance should
measure between 5,000 and 50,000 ohms. If the resistance check indicates an open circuit or,
conversely, a short circuit, the probe likely needs to be replaced.
