SPRING
Spring Removal
1. Remove shock absorber. See

2. Secure the
SPRING COMPRESSOR (P/N 529 036
184)
in a vise.

3. Position the shock absorber in the tool and in-
stall the spring compressor hooks.

1. Spring compressor hooks
4. Tighten the spring compressor tool screw until
the spring is sufficiently compressed to remove
spring stopper.
5. Release the spring compressor tool screw.
6. Remove spring from shock absorber.
Spring Inspection
Remove the shock absorber. See
SHOCK AB-
SORBER REMOVAL

Inspect spring and replace if one of the following
damage is detected:
– Crack in the paint
– Rust
– Other visible damages.
NOTE: If rust is limited to a 1/4 of the first coil, the
spring should not be replaced.

Spring Installation
The spring installation is the reverse of the re-
moval procedure. However, pay attention to the
following.
Make sure to position the stopper opening at 180°
with cap opening.
