Operating instructions
1. STOP! Read the safety information above on this manual.
2. Turn off all electric power to the appliance.
3. Do not attempt to light the burner by hand.
4. Turn the gas shut off valve located on the outside of the unit clockwise to the
“OFF” position.
5. Turn off all electrical power to the appliance.
6. Wait five(5) minutes to clear out any gas. If you smell gas, STOP! Follow “B” in
the safety information above on this manual. If you don’t smell gas, go to the
next step.
7. Turn the gas shut off valve located on outside of the unit counterclockwise to
the “ON” position.
8. Turn on all electric power to the appliance.
9. Set thermostat to desired setting.
10. If the appliance will to operate, follow the instructions “To Turn Off Gas To
Appliance” and call your service technician or gas supplier.
To turn off gas to appliance
1. Turn off all electric power to the appliance if service is to be performed.
2. Turn the gas shut-off valve located on the outside of the unit clockwise to the
“OFF” position.

Shock hazard-make sure the electrical power to the water heater is off to avoid
electric shock that will result in death or serious personal injury.
