
vegetation. This can be useful in agriculture for identifying stress in crops, precision farming, and
in forestry for quantifying density, or leaf area.
The CCFC has a removable IR filter which allows it to capture two images in rapid succession in
order to create an NDVI representation image.
NOTE:
Any motion in the frame will be apparent in the NDVI image since there is a small time lag
between the image captures (less than one second).
NDVI creates a false color image, with non-vegetation appearing in shades of blue and
vegetation appears in colors on a scale from green to yellow to red (see
(p. 27)). The
NDVI image which the CCFC generates has a legend at the bottom which displays this scale. It
also contains an estimation of the total percentage of vegetation in the image.
