NOTE:
The external trigger also turns on Wi-Fi from any low power mode when it is changed to
Active State (see
(p. 92)). The camera can be configured to turn on
when a signal is set to high or low. This is a user selectable configuration. The blue wire must
be connected to a 5 or 12 VDC source.
9.2 Power and I/O cable details
The Power and I/O Cable (CCFCCBL1-L) has an outdoor environmentally rated connector on one
end and discrete wire pigtails on the other end that allow for flexible termination. When
connecting the cable to the camera, the notch positions must always line up and care should be
taken not to cross-thread the connector.
For information about the available cable options, see

l

l

l
Maximum recommended cable length of 20 m (65 feet)
A user-supplied cable with heavier wire gauge may support longer cable lengths. The individual
wire resistance on the 12 VDC and ground conductors should not exceed 0.7 Ohms. Long cables
used in conjunction with RS-232 communications requires slower baud rates. Depending on the
cable length and type, RS-232 may not be suitable for communications and the use of RS-485
should be considered. If there are any uncertainties, contact Campbell Scientific.
9.3 Ethernet cables
NOTE:
The CCFC does not support the PakBus® communication protocol over Ethernet.
Use the Ethernet connection to configure camera settings and target and focus the camera. The
Ethernet port is auto MDIX; therefore, an Ethernet crossover cable is not required to connect the
camera to other devices.
Indoor installations and temporary dry outdoor connections can use a standard CAT5 (or better)
Ethernet cable with RJ45 connectors to interface the camera. Permanent outdoor and temporary
connections in wet or harsh environments require the Environmental Ethernet Cable assembly.
Campbell Scientific recommends the use of the environmentally sealed cable at all times when
outdoors.
