CHAPTER 3
INSTALLATION
This chapter describes how to install the MicroMMAC-T and accessories
(12-port daughterboard, MicroSNAC-T, CRBRIM-W/T, LDRAM SIMM)
in the MicroMMAC-T.
3.1 INSTALLING THE MicroMMAC-T
This section describes installation requirements and procedures for
installing the MicroMMAC-T in a rack and a free-standing site. It also
describes how to install the strain-relief bar, which is used to help protect
cable connections to MicroMMAC-T ports.
3.1.1 Installation Requirements
The MicroMMAC-T can be rack-mounted or placed on any horizontal
surface. Always observe the following installation requirements when
installing the MicroMMAC-T:
•
Ensure that any enclosure in which the MicroMMAC-T is installed is
at least 21 inches wide, 18 inches deep, and 6 inches high to provide
adequate ventilation (see
Figure 3-6
).
•
Use a single phase 100 to 250 Vac grounded power source located
within 7.5 feet (the length of the power cord) of the installation site.
•
Ensure that any shelf on which the MicroMMAC-T/STH stack is
placed is capable of supporting 30 pounds of static weight.
•
Ensure that the ambient temperature in the installation location neither
falls below 5
°
C nor exceeds 40
°
C and changes at a rate of no greater
than 10
°
C per hour.
To eliminate potential electric shock hazard, make sure the
MicroMMAC-T is disconnected from its power source before
attempting any of the installation procedures described in this
chapter.
Section 2.1
describes how to connect and disconnect
the MicroMMAC-T from a power source.
