NOTE
The Learn mode and the signature code can be used in lieu of saving the
program in Program Memory. Learning a cable assembly each time from a
batch, and comparing the signature code with the recorded one eliminates the
need to save the program and then load it from memory each time a batch of
cables requires testing. However, if the preferred procedure is to save the
program and load it for testing a new batch, refer to the Save Program and
Load Program procedures later in this section.
Search
Search mode enables use of a wrist strap or probe as an aid in identifying wires or circuit points.
Each point contacted will be displayed in succession. To select and use the SEARCH mode,
proceed as follows:
1. Press RESET.
2. Select and install a pair of adapter cards for the cable assembly to be probed.
3. Mate each connector on the cable assembly to the appropriate adapter card.
4. Insert wrist strap or probe lead into Probe jack on rear panel (see Figure 2).
5. Fasten strap around one wrist, or grasp probe.
6. Press SEARCH.
7. Touch wire end with hand or probe, and the display will show the pin number(s) of that
wire.
8. Touch another wire, and its corresponding pin number(s) will be displayed.
NOTE
If more than one wire is touched at a time, or if the wire touched
is connected to others, the display will scroll through the
numbers in succession.
