SYSTEM SETUP
UNPACKING
Upon unpacking the Model 128/PC from its shipping carton, inspect it for evidence of abuse
during shipment. If such is found, notify Cablescan and the carrier at once. Save the shipping
carton and packing materials for later use.
INITIAL SETUP
When shipped from the factory, the Model 128/PC is set for operating from one of the following
power sources:
104 to 126 VRMS at 50/60 HZ.
208 to 252 VRMS at 50/60 HZ.
The line power cord receptacle on the rear panel (Figure 2) is labeled for one of the above
voltage settings.
1. Be sure that the source voltage and Model 128/PC are of the same rating before
connecting the power cord. If they are not, refer to "Changing Power Settings."
2. Make sure that the power switch on the back panel is set to 0 (off), and then plug in the
power cord.
3. Turn power switch to 1 (on), and observe that a message is displayed. The Model
128/PC is ready for use. (If nothing happens, check power source, power cord
connections, and the fuse on the rear panel.)
POWER TURN-ON AND SELF TEST
Verify that the power cord is connected to the proper power source, as described under the initial
hookup, then proceed as follows:
1. Turn power on at the unit by moving the power switch on the rear panel to 1 (ON); the
display will light up with a message and the tone will sound.
2. For self test of the basic Model 128/PC, verify that no cable assembly is connected and
adapter cards are not installed.
3. Press the Up or Down arrow to step through the menu to reach Self Test.
4. Press MENU RUN to initiate Self Test. If the unit passes its self test, the display will
show
Self Test Passed
, and a tone will sound; if it fails, the display will show one of the
following:
O
for open, plus the internal connector pin number.
S
for short, plus the internal connector pin numbers.
5. The self test will stop if an error is encountered. To resume the test, press MENU RUN
again.
