8. Diagnostic
messages
•
When the unit is running, it is possible to verify a number of abnormal situations which are
signaled in different ways.
• Some alarms (tripped, withdrawn) have a dedicated LED which begins to flash when the
alarms go on.
• Other alarms are signaled through a code which consists of an A (alarm) and a number
indicating which alarm it is. This code will be flashing on one of the displays. If the code
refers to the main line branch, the alarm will be displayed on the left. Conversely, if the
code refers to the secondary line branch or if it is a generic alarm (e.g. battery), it will be
displayed on the right.
• When an alarm goes on, the red LED “ALARM” flashes in sync with the dedicated LED or
with the alarm code.
• The Global alarm relay output is de-energized during alarm conditions whereas it is
energized under normal conditions. If the unit does not operate due to a failure or power
supply problems, it will generate an alarm condition on its contact.
• Some alarms are automatically reset when the conditions generating them fail to work.
• Other alarms, described in the chart in the RIT column, are retentive, thus they are
stored.
• Once the alarm has been stored, the abnormal conditions must be eliminated in order to
be reset. Also, the operator must press the RESET key or send a special message via the
serial interface.
