Quiet-Ride Adjustment Instructions
4. Bridge Plate Stow Bumpers:
Vibration can occur between the bridge
plate and the base plate when the lift is in
the stowed (fully folded) position. This
vibration is eliminated with the rubber
bumpers mounted on each bridge plate
bracket weldment (factory-equipped). See
Photos K and L.
The bridge plate should be making
positive contact with the base plate.
See Photo K. Flat washers are posi-
tioned between the rubber bumpers and
the bridge plate brackets (see Photo L). If
there is excessive play (movement)
between the bridge plate and the base
plate, add washers (shims) as needed to
eliminate the play. Unfold the platform
and remove the bumpers. Add washers
(shims) as needed and
tighten
the
mounting hardware securely.
Refer to the Repair Parts section for
rubber bumper, flat washer and mounting
hardware part numbers.
Caution: Do not overtighten
. Excess
shimming can result in pushing the
inboard edge of the bridge plate down-
ward when the lift is unfolded (see
Photo M). The bridge plate may contact
the vehicle as it lowers and raises if
shimmed too much (reduces vehicle
clearance). See point 7 of Figure S on
page 25 also. Add the
minimum
number of washers (shims) required.
