Risk of injury on approaching the zero
position
The flywheel of the EPS starts to turn abrupt-
ly after selecting the
Zero position approach
function. Parts of the body and clothing could
then become trapped.
¶
Always maintain a safe distance in the
hazard zone of the rotary encoder, the cou-
pling assembly and the EPS flywheel.
¶
Remove all tools from the hazard zones.
11.
Select the
Zero position approach
function in the
“
Angle function
” menu. The EPS drive starts to
turn and moves to the zero position.
12.
Turn the rotary encoder coupling until the
CRI 800
display box indicates a value of 15° (tolerance: ±1°).

A torque of 1.2 Nm is not to be exceeded when tigh-
tening the fastening screw for the clamp.
!
Remove the Allen key from the fastening screw after
tightening the clamp.
13.
Check whether the screw is readily accessible for
fastening the clamp of the rotary encoder coup-
ling. If not, use <
F6
> to turn the EPS drive until the
screw is readily accessible.
14.
Tighten the clamp of the rotary encoder coupling
by way of the screw and in doing so observe the
angle value on the screen. The value must not
change by more than ±1°. Tightening torque for
screw: 1.2 Nm.
15.
Call up the "
Angle funct.
" menu with <
F7
> and
select the
Initialization
function.
The EPS drive starts up and performs a calibra-
tion run. The EPS drive comes to a halt following
successful detection of the CAMBox reference
pulse.
16.
Once the EPS drive has come to a halt, check that
the
calibration value
displayed on the screen is
15° ±1°. If the value is outside the tolerance range,
the setting procedure for the rotary encoder must
be repeated (steps 9 - 16).
