Serial Communications
The GasFinder2 will transmit serial data at 300 / 1200 / 2400 / 4800 / 9600/ 19200 / 38400
/ 57600 / 115200 / 230400 baud, no parity, 8 bits, one stop bit, (i.e., 9600,N,8,1) after each
scan. Two handshaking options are available:
No Handshaking — Connect pin 4 (PCDTR) to pin 12 (+5VDC) at the • GasFinder2 end
of the data cable. Data will be sent automatically after every scan. This is the standard
confi guration of the cable as supplied by Boreal Laser Inc.
DTR Handshaking — The control computer raises the voltage to +5VDC on pin 4 (PCDTR) •
in order to request a data string. Data are transmitted as an ASCII string and will be sent
only when requested by the host computer.
Remote alteration of some parameters is possible. See end of section. •
