Data Transmission
The data cable carries the RS232 signal from the
GasFinder2
to the computer which stores
and displays the data. The cable length should not exceed 30m. If a longer distance is
required, other options are available:
1. RS232
2. RS485
3. Fibreoptic Modems
4. Wireless Modems
5. 4–20mA Loop
This is the standard output and allows a twisted pair of wires
to carry the data up to 30m. The output is powered through
the RS232 port.
These are two small units, one at the
GasFinder2
and the
other at the computer. They boost the signal and allow a
twisted pair of wires to carry the data 200 to 300m. They both
require a small amount of power to operate.
These are two small units, one connected to the
GasFinder2
and the other to the computer with a short data cable. They
are both linked together with a multi-mode fi bre optic cable
and powered through the RS232 ports. Distances covered
can be many kilometres.
These are a pair of units about 0.5kg each and are connected,
to the
GasFinder2
and the computer with a short data cable.
They are usually spread-spectrum type and can transmit
data over distances determined by the power output or the
antenna. They can work in, or surrounded by, buildings and
their range is from 50 to 500m. The transmitter is 100mW.
The DB15 connector on the rear panel of the
GasFinder2
has output pins that will give a current output for transmission
to a compatible input system.
