2.4 Steel hoisting cables
The certificates of the steel hoisting cables are provided with the machine, always make sure that the steel
cables have a diameter of 10mm and an appropriate length before using them.
Inspect the steel cables regularly for damages and at least once every week a certified specialist should
inspect the cables. At the back of the manual you will find room to fill in the results of the inspections.
Caution when handling steel cables! Always wear protective gloves.
Use only Blastrac approved steel cables.
Always unwind the cable orderly and without twisting.
Examine the condition of the steel cable according to chapter “Regular checks of hoisting cables”
Never use the steel cable as an attachment rope and never wind it around the load!
The cable must always be able to run out unhindered!
Never pull the steel cable over (sharp) edges!
The steel cable must always be slightly lubricated and free of dirt, dust or shot.
Only use common multi-purpose oil or grease for lubricating the winch and steel cable. Do not use any
lubricants which contain molybdenum disulphide (MoS2) or PTFE!

The following table shows all permissible rope types that can be used in combination with the 900VMB. Use of
a rope with a diameter that is too large or too small leads to an impairment of the hoist function and can result
in the load falling from a height.
