Using the Excel Connector
The iCompel Data Engine advanced query configuration is shown below:
This results in the following results (assuming XML output):
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<output query_source="Excel" version="V2.1.0" checksum="xEwfu7UNfnE0vlLLwnY/TQ==" query_time="2010-05-19T14:06:27">
<all_data field_name_significant="True" query_row_count="1">
<row Born_x0020_in_x0020_London="3" />
</all_data>
</output>
Note the result should be displayed using tabular media as only one record is present.
Data Detection and Scan Settings
By default, the Excel
®
driver will examine the first 8 rows of data to determine the correct data representation to use.
If the data contains mixed data types in the same column (e.g. strings and numbers), particularly if the mixed type
data occur after the first 8 rows, the driver may ignore or truncate values. The current setting is displayed in the Test
window when a Excel connection is tested from the Connection Editor application.
To avoid this, please follow the advice in Microsoft knowledge base article
