Configuring WAN settings
This menu item enables you to configure WAN settings and also to set WAN outbound and
inbound bandwidth parameters.

You can select one of three protocols for the router’s WAN settings:
PPPoE
,
Static IP
, and
Obtain an IP Address Automatically
.
PPPoE protocol.
Select this item if your ISP uses the PPPoE (Point-to-Point Protocol Over
Ethernet) protocol.

Protocol
Displays the current protocol. Click the drop-down arrow to change the
protocol.
Mode
There are two modes for the connection: NAT (Network Address Transla-
tion) and Router.
NAT converts private IP addresses (such as in the 192.168.0.0 range) of
the machine on the internal private network to one or more public IP
addresses for the Internet. Select NAT to add an extra layer of security
when user on the internal network need to access the Internet. Select
Router for an internal network.
Username
Type the user name that your ISP provided.
Password
Type the password that your ISP provided.
Retype
Confirm the password that your ISP provided.
Service Name
Type the name of the ISP.
