NOTE:
The Hydraulic Oil should be changed after 1,500
hours of operation or yearly, whichever comes first.
The Oil Filter should also be changed at this time.
HYDRAULIC OIL CHANGE PROCEDURE
Required tools:
t
3/8" Hex Wrench
t
Crescent Wrench
t
Tray to catch waste oil
t
Container for waste oil approximately seven gallons
t
Replacement Cannister Oil Filter
t
Rags and Oil Absorbent for spills
1. Verify that all the Cylinders are in their closed positions.
2. Turn off and lockout the Bender to prevent the Bender
from starting while you are working.
3. Remove the Breather Cap.
4. Have your Waste Oil Container at the ready and
disconnect the large Hydraulic Hose from the Power
Unit that is connected to the low end of the Reservoir
and direct it into your oil container, 4.5 gal.
5. When the oil has drained from the reservoir, replace
the hose on the power unit and tighten.
6. To completely empty the Reservoir, move a tray under
the Bender to catch the remaining oil.
7. Using a 3/8" Hex Wrench open the Oil Drain Plug on
the bottom of the Reservoir as shown in the figure to
the right.
8. After the remaining oil has drained replace the Drain
Plug.
9. Remove the Cannister-Type Oil Filter. (10-Micron, 200
psi, 3/4" NPT)
10. Clean the Gasket Seat if necessary.
11. Place a thin film of Hydraulic Oil on the new Filter
Gasket. Make to sure the Oil Film covers the whole
face of Gasket where it will meet the Seat.
12. Thread the filter onto the Bender by hand. Stop when
you feel contact with the Gasket Seat, then turn 1/4 to
1/2 a turn more.
13. Fill the Reservoir with approximately 4.5 gallons of
Hydraulic Oil from the Hydraulic Oil list above.
14. Replace the Breather Cap and verify all Hydraulic
Hose and Reservoir Connections are tight.
15. Turn on power to the Bender.
16. Advance the Radius die forward to approximately 100
degrees, then retract. Repeat at least five times to
encourage the Bender to self-bleed and purge the air
out of the system.
17. Check for and eliminate any Hydraulic Leaks.
18. Check the oil level in sight gauge. Add oil if
necessary.
19. Activate the Swaging and Internal Expander
Cylinders. Cycle the Cylinders to their full extent at
least five times to encourage the system to Self-Bleed.
20. Dispose of the used oil and Filters at a recycling
center according to Federal, State and local
regulations. Do not dump used Hydraulic Oil.
