2.4 Chemical Additives
Specifications
The selection of chemical additives is open for Customer preference;
however, to achieve optimal performance, the selected chemical
additives must meet as a minimum, the following specifications:
NOTE: When choosing and using chemicals, note the following:
1) Follow chemical label recommendations for concentration of
chemical to use.
2) Follow chemical manufacturer's recommendations to determine
the temperature of the Wash treatment.
3) Follow chemical manufacturer's recommendations for the amount
of chemical used according to water hardness.
To achieve maximum cleaning efficiency, select chemical appropri-
ate to soil type being processed. STERIS recommends the following
chemicals:

Cage-Klenz
®
100 Alkaline Cage Wash Detergent –
is a liquid,
phosphate-free detergent for use in high pressure spray animal
cage washing equipment. This product is safe and effective in
both soft and hard water for the removal of organic soils. It is
suitable when used as directed to clean all types of metal cages
(steel, aluminum, copper and other common alloys) as well as
most plastics.

Cage-Klenz
®
150 Alkaline Cage Wash Detergent –
is a
chlorinated alkaline detergent for use in automatic washing
equipment, including cage and bottle washers. This product is
formulated to significantly extend the stability of the active
chlorine, providing efficient cleaning of a broad spectrum of
soils.

Cage-Klenz
®
180 Alkaline Cage Wash Detergent –
is an
economical, general purpose alkaline detergent for use in high
pressure spray animal cage washing equipment. This product is
safe and effective in both soft and hard water for the removal of
organic soils. It is suitable when used as directed to clean all
types of metal cages (steel, aluminum, copper and other
common alloys) as well as most plastics.
