3. Mounting locations
Locations to install the smoke alarm device:
• Bedroom, children‘s bedrooms and corridors must be fitted with smoke alarm devices (basic
requirement)
• Always at the ceiling
• 50 cm away from the wall (or bearer)
• If the room is separated by furniture in room-height, etc., a smoke alarm device must be fitted
in each separate area
• The following applies for rooms with a floor area of ≤ 60 m
2
separated by beams or bearers:
• For ceiling areas > 36 m
2
, one smoke alarm device must to be mounted in each area (see
figure 1 a)
• For ceiling areas of ≤ 36 m
2
with a slope of ≤ 20° and beams or bearers with a height
h ≤ 0.2 m, the individual ceiling areas can be neglected (see figure 1 b). A smoke alarm
device is placed a central a possible within a ceiling area or on the bearer.
• If such rooms have beams or bearers with a height h > 0.2 m, the smoke alarm device must
be mounted as central as possible onto a beam or bearer in the room (see section 6 figure c).
For rooms with a floor area of > 60 m
2
, an additional smoke alarm device must be fitted for
each > 60 m
2

The red LED will then flash every 10 seconds to indicate
that the alarm of the smoke alarm device is in mute
mode. Press the test button of the smoke alarm device to
mute the alarm for approx. 9 minutes.

The green LED will then flash three times every 43
seconds for at least 24 hours.
Under normal conditions, the
operating life of the smoke alarm
devices is up to 10 years.
The smoke alarm device will indicate with three audible
“beeps” if the battery is (almost) empty. This alarm
sounds every 43 seconds for at least 30 days.

The red LED will then flash once every 43 seconds
and the smoke alarm device will sound an audible “di”
alarm sound.
2. Construction/operation
General:
• In rooms where ventilation and/or air conditioning systems are used, it must be ensured that
the flow of air does not impair the functionality of the smoke alarm devices.
• The smoke alarm devices must be permanently mounted to the wall. Pay attention to the
mounting instructions.
• A mounting method must be selected that ensures a minimum holding force of 20 N in verti-
cal direction.
• The smoke alarm device is designed for monitoring of residential buildings and spaces (not
for industrial, business use).
• After installation is completed, each smoke alarm device must be tested for its functionality.
• The functionality of each installed smoke alarm device must be tested regularly and ensured
through overhauls. Functionality test 1x per week, cleaning every 3 months.
• The smoke alarm device must be decommissioned and replaced with a new device after a
maximum of 10 years.
