Pump not delivering fluid.
Insufficient pressure
build-up.
Pump making noise.
Driven in wrong direction of rotation.
Coupling or shaft sheared or
disengaged.
Fluid intake pipe in reservoir restricted.
Fluid viscosity too heavy to pick up
prime.
Air leaks at intake. Pump not priming.
Vane(s) stuck in rotor slot(s).
System relief valve set too low.
Loss of low from pump.
Pump intake partially blocked.
Air leaks at intake or shaft seal. (Oil in
reservoir would probably be foamy).
Pump drive speed too slow or too fast.
Coupling misalignment.
The drive direction must be changed
immediately to prevent seizure. Refer to
service instructions for correct ring
position for each direction of rotation.
Disassemble pump and check shaft &
cartridge for damage. Replace parts as
needed.
Check all strainers and filters for dirt and
sludge. Clean as needed.
Completely drain system. Add new
filtered fluid of proper viscosity.
Check inlet connections to determine
where air is being drawn in. Tighten any
loose connections. See that fluid in
reservoir is above intake pipe opening.
Check minimum drive speed which may
be too slow to prime pump.
Disassemble pump. Check for dirt or
metal chips. Clean parts well and
replace any damaged pieces. Flush
system and refill, if needed.
Use a pressure gauge to correctly adjust
relief valve.
Worn pump parts.
Broken inlet or pressure line.
Service intake strainers. Check fluid
condition and drain & flush system if
needed. Refill with clean fluid.
Check inlet connections and seal to
determine where air is being drawn in.
Tighten any loose connections and
replace seal if needed. See that fluid in
reservoir is above intake pipe opening.
Operate pump at recommended speed.
Check if shaft seal bearing or other parts
have been damaged. Replace any
damaged parts. Realign coupled shafts.
