7. Cabling of the X-series display
7.3
Data cabling of the X-series display
Purpose of redundancy loop
When a data cable between 2 tiles is removed or seriously damaged so that the data link is interrupted, all next tiles in the string will
loose their data link. In other words, a part of the display fails. To prevent this a redundancy loop can be created. If a redundancy
loop is created then the last tile will detect that there is data available on the other side (input from the redundant cable) and will
change direction. All other tiles will change their direction too so that video signal is supplied from the last tile up to the tile that had
the failure. The correct image is restored.
Note that the setup of a redundancy loop is optional.
Necessary parts
•
Two short data linking cables per tile.
•
One long data linking cable (maximum 5 meter) per In
fi
nipix™ NP100.
•
One long data linking cable (maximum 5 meter) for the redundancy loop per In
fi
nipix™ NP100.
How to realize the data cabling of an X-series display?
1. Connect the
fi
ber kit data linking cable coming from the In
fi
nipix™ NP100, with the data port of one of the tiles in the corner of
the X-series. Use one of the dual ports at the outer side of the display as input port.
2. Connect on of the dual ports on the other side of the tile with one of the dual data ports of the neighboring tile.
3. Continue to complete the data path of the display by connecting all following tiles with a data linking cable to each other in a daisy
chain manner. This daisy chain linking can be realized either in horizontal, which is recommended, or in vertical direction.
4. Specify in the setup controlling software how the data path is realized (horizontal or vertical) and which tile is the
fi
rst in the chain.
