Network
Discovery
NGS-D320 devices can be discovered on the network using the mDNS protocol.
Refer to "Discovery", page 23 on how to discover an NGS-D320.
IP addressing
The NGS-D320 supports IPv4 addressing.
The IP address can be dynamically con
fi
gured using DHCP, or can be con
fi
gured to static.
If no DHCP is present and no static con
fi
g is available, the device will fall back to linklocal addressing.
The NGS-D320 can connect to an NTP (Network Time Protocol) server.
All media traf
fi
c will be timestamped according to this reference time.
If no NTP server is present, the media will be timestamped in line with the device clock (starting at 1 Jan
1970). The device clock is reset after every reboot.
The NGS-D320 can connect to a DNS (Domain Name Service) server.
Refer to "Network settings", page 32 on how to con
fi
gure NGS-D320 network settings.
Ports
The table below lists the ports used for the various protocols on the NGS-D320:
Port
Protocol
TCP 443
https for web interface and API
TCP 554
RTSP
TCP 5901
VNC for keyboard & mouse forwarding from decoder to encoder
UDP 5004
RTP audio & video streaming (5004 is the default port, changeable by user)
UDP 9875
Session announcements (SAP) on multicast address 224.2.127.254
These ports need to be open on the network infrastructure to ensure proper operation.
2.3.4
Streaming
Stream control
The NGS-D320 supports 2 methods to control stream
fl
ow:
1.
RTSP
The NGS-D320 supports RTSP (Real Time Streaming Protocol) and runs an RTSP server to manage
connections. Connection to the NGS-D320 streams can be done via RTSP clients.
Both RTSP unicast & multicast is supported.
2.
SAP
The NGS-D320 supports SAP (Session Announcement Protocol) and sends out SAP announcements.
When subscribing to the SAP multicast address 224.2.127.254, the SAP message of an NGS-D320
will be available, and will allow to connect to an NGS-D320 multicast stream.
Media stream
The NGS-D320 uses RTP (Real Time Protocol) to stream media.
