3.2.4 Video Input Card

To integrate analog video, SDI video and HD-SDI video, there are different types of video input cards available for
use in the H

YDRA

C

OMPACT

. Each board except the Streaming video card is additionally equipped with a RJ45 GPIO

PIO

connector for user specified functions like tallies or alarms. Furthermore there is an LED for each input connector
to indicate, if there is a video connection or not.

Depending on the type of the video input card up to 40 video sources can be processed and displayed by one
H

YDRA

C

OMPACT

Order

The video input cards are inserted into the slots on the right of the overlay input card (looking from the back on
the H

YDRA

C

OMPACT

). The order of the various video input cards and the RGB input cards can be chosen arbitrarily.

GB input cards can be chosen arbitrarily.

One  exception  from  this  is  the  combination  of  Quad  SDI  video  input  cards  and  RGB  input  cards  since  the  RGB
input cards can not be inserted directly to the left of the Quad SDI video input cards. Either a card of another type
can be inserted between these cards or the RGB input cards can be inserted to the right of the Quad SDI video
input cards.

There is no empty slot allowed between overlay input card and video/RGB input card

B input cards and

between the video/RGB input cards themselves!

Maximal number of video/RGB input cards

Using  multiple  input  cards  in  the  H

YDRA

C

OMPACT

some  restrictions  concerning  the  number  of  different  types  of

input cards must be considered. In the following formula

H

stands for the number of HD-SDI input cards,

V

 for

Dual analog video input cards, Quad analog video input cards, Dual SDI input cards and Quad SDI input cards,

S

for  Streaming  video  cards,

R

  for  RGB  input  cards,

O

  for  one  channel  output  cards,

OD

DDda

  for  DVI-DVI

digital/analog  output  cards,

/analog  output  cards,

ODDd

for  DVI-DVI  digital  output  cards  and

A

for  the  audio  mother  boards.  The

following rule must be applied for a H

YDRA

C

OMPACT

 with redundant power net:

25

 (H * 4.7) + 2 + (V * 3.1) + (S * 3.7) + (R * 2) + O + (ODDda * 2.5) + (ODDd * 0.5) + (A * 0.8)

With a non-redundant power net the following rule must be applied:

45

 (H * 4.7) + 2 + (V * 3.1) + (S * 3.7) + (R * 2) + O + (ODDda * 2.5) + (ODDd * 0.5) + (A * 0.8)

With non-redundant operation for all types of cards an unlimited number can be inserted except for the HD-SDI
input  cards  (at  maximum  eight  pieces,  depending  on  the  other  cards).  With  redundant  operation  limitations
apply also for other types of cards. In both cases always the whole configuration must be considered.
