6.3 Functional reserve
Different parameters such as distance, lateral offset,
ambient temperature, angle to the magnetic tape, and
external magnetic fields have a direct effect on the
measuring accuracy.
The measuring accuracy is determined in a functional
reserve value by applying a plausibility check.
To perform the plausibility check, the sensor head must be
moved over the magnetic tape with a speed of <1 m/s. If
no value can be determined (traverse speed > 1 m/s or
opposite direction of movement) the value unknown is
output.
The functional reserve value is not sent at each DRIVE-
CLiQ communication cycle. The value itself can be read
from the parameter Functional reserve 3 and is given in
percent. Values for the functional reserve are defined as
follows:

26…100 Sensor head operating optimally
999 unknown (e.g. speed > 1 m/s)

When the functional limit is reached, the control
unit generates the alarm A3x407.
6.4 Temperature processing
The sensor head model BML SGA-AEZ1-LZZZ-TU11-S284
can process an externally connected resistance
temperature detector (RTD). The temperature value is sent
in SINAMICS format, with a temperature resolution value of
0.1 °C. The basic error detection is also implemented, so
that the sensor head is able to determine whether the
connection to the temperature sensor is defective.
Only a type PT1000 (2-wire) temperature sensor is
supported. If another sensor type is connected, the
temperature processing will indicate highly inexact values.
Possible temperature values:
