Share-level Access
Control in SMB
Share-level access control means that a password can be assigned to
any StorPoint CD folder or any CD-ROM inserted in a connected
drive. The user will automatically be prompted for the password when
trying to access the shared folder. Access will then be granted to the
folder and all its subfolders.
To protect a specific CD-ROM, for example <cd1> in the picture, you
must assign a password to the cd folder as well. Otherwise, the users
will have access through the cd folder. Thus, if you want most users to
have free access to most CD-ROMs but need to protect a specific disc,
use user-level access control instead.
By default, all users have full access to all the StorPoint CD resources.
You are therefore recommended to assign passwords to the root,
config and volumes folders.
In the configuration file, specify the
SecurityMode
parameter:
