Install new bearing shells for the cylinder block with the correct coloured markings

Installing retaining frame

Renew bolts -1 … 16-.
–
Fit both dowel sleeves into retaining frame.
–
Then tighten retaining frame bolts in the sequence
-1 ... 16- as follows:
1. Tighten bolts to 30 Nm using torque wrench.
2. Tighten bolts to 50 Nm using torque wrench.
3. Turn bolts 90
°

turn) further using a rigid wrench.
Matching crankshaft bearing shells to bearings in cylinder
block
Bearing shells of the correct thickness are matched to the
bearings in the cylinder block at the factory. Coloured dots on
bearing shell are used to identify bearing shell thickness.
•
The -arrow- points to pulley end.
The allocation of the bearing shells to the cylinder block is
identified by a code letter next to the relevant bearing.
