2.10 Removing and installing drive chain for
valve gear

Removing
–
Remove timing chain covers

Remove camshaft timing chains

Remove chain for oil pump and balance shaft
⇒

–
Press guide rail of chain tensioner for drive chain in direc-
tion of -arrow- and lock chain tensioner by inserting a
3.3 mm
∅
drill bit -item 4-.
–
Mark running direction of chain with paint.
–
Remove bolts -2- and -3- and detach chain sprockets to-
gether with drive chain and guide rail -1-.
Installing
Installation is carried out in the reverse order; note the follow-
ing:
•
Crankshaft -1- locked in “TDC” position with locking pin
-3242-.
–
First install sprocket for camshaft timing chain (left-side)
-2-.
–
Install guide rail -1- with drive chain fitted.
–
Now install sprocket for camshaft timing chain (right-side)
-3-.
–
Push guide rail of chain tensioner for drive chain in direc-
tion of -arrow- and pull drill bit -4- out of chain tensioner.

Install chain for oil pump and balance shaft
