When software update is necessary, you will be informed on au
homepage, etc. For details, contact an au shop or Customer
Service Center (call toll-free 157).

Charge the battery sufficiently before starting update. If the battery
level is insufficient or the battery runs out during the update, the
major update will fail.
•
When performing the update with “Update by network”, check
the signal state. A major update may fail in a location with a poor
reception.
•
Various data registered on the product (address books, mails, still
pictures, music data, etc.) and information of settings will not be
changed even after software is updated. However, note that data
may not be protected depending on the state of the product (fault,
damage, getting wet with water, etc.). Also, it is recommended to
back up your data before updating software.
•
If an update failed or was cancelled, start the major update again
from “Update now”.
•
“Auto download” is only available with a wireless LAN (Wi-Fi
®
).
If you are not using a wireless LAN (Wi-Fi
®
), perform the major
update manually.

When an update is performed, the phone info (model, IMEI, etc.) is
sent automatically to the server (software update server managed
by KDDI CORPORATION). KDDI CORPORATION does not use
the received information for any purpose other than updating the
G’zOne.
Do not conduct the following operations during the major
update

Do not remove the battery pack during software update. Doing so
may cause the software update failure.

Do not start any other functions during the major update.

Do not move during the major update.
The following operations are not available during the major
update

Operations are not available during major update. Making a call
to 110 (Police), 119 (Fire and Ambulance) or 118 (Regional Coast
Guard Headquarters) is not available either. Also, the alarm etc.
does not function.
However, incoming voice calls, etc. can be answered during
downloading.
When a major update cannot be performed, etc.

If an update fails, the “

G’zOne may become inoperable. If this happens, take it to an au
shop or PiPit (cannot be accepted by some shops).
