Community Strings
The managed switch supports SNMP V1, V2c, and V3. SNMP V1 and V2c use a community string
match for authentication. There are three levels of authentications which are read-sysinfo-only, read-
all-only, or read-write-all. For example, in our default setting, the SNMP agent can access all objects
with read-all-only permissions using the string
public
. Another example is that the string
private
has
permission of read-write-all.
This option allows users to use a community string match for authentication. Users can specify the
string names and the type of permissions on the
String
field as shown in Figure 2.69.

Trap Receivers
The managed switch provides a trap function that allows an SNMP agent to notify the network
management system in case of a significant event. This allows users to configure SNMP Trap setting,
