5.7.3. The DADSR Envelope Mode
Lets take a look at the DADSR (delay, attack, decay, sustain, release) Envelope. This behaves
much more like a traditional ADSR envelope found on many synthesisers and provides very
natural sounding contours.
Lets take a look at the controls.
•
Env Module Type:
In the top left corner of the Env visualiser there is a dropdown
menu to switch between the 3 types of envelope (in this case DADSR).
•
Env Copy:
just to the right of the dropdown Env type menu you will find the
Env Copy button. When pressed it allows you to copy the parameters from the
currently active envelope to any of the other envelopes.
•
Key Time:
This allows you to map the length of time of each stage of the DADSR
to MIDI notes. The higher the note the shorter the time and the lower the longer.
This is a bipolar control so a negative value will have the opposite effect.
•
Velocity:
This maps the DADSR output level to velocity. The harder you play a note
the louder the output of the DADSR.
•
Visualiser:
You can click drag to edit the DADSR envelope shape here.
•
Delay:
this sets the length of the Delay section of the Envelope.
•
Attack:
this sets the length of the Attack section of the Envelope.
•
Decay:
this sets the length of the Decay section of the Envelope.
•
Sustain:
this sets the length of the Sustain section of the Envelope.
•
Release:
this sets the length of the (you guessed it) Release section of the
Envelope.
