6.7 Text Menu
The IVS can insert additional text into the video image,
for example the production name or a scene number.
As there is no text input possibility on the camera or on
the IVS, it is necessary to enter that text on a computer
and to send it to the IVS via the RS 232 interface into the
CCU connector of the data cable ZV4.
The latest versions of the Laptop Camera Controller
provide corresponding possibilities.
If information is stored in the text memory, it will remain
there until the memory is cleared or new information
overrides the old one, even if the IVS or the camera is
switched off or disconnected from the power supply. This
enables for example a camera rental house to store
information which is then available to the production
team. This might for example be the production name.
Like all man-readable information, the data is inserted as
a window on the monitor image. The window can be
switched on and off independently. Background, position
and character format can be altered without affecting the
settings of other windows.
This additional line shows an example of the text information:
The adjustment of the white level of the inserted data, an
inverse display and a fine adjustment of the vertical
position are described in chapter 6.9
