1. Before you start
This manual describes the Amulet Hotkey security edition
zero clients, models DXZ4-A and DXZ4-AM. Based on PCoIP
technology from Teradici Corporation, the DXZ4 security edition
zero clients support four heads of video in a compact unit with
dual network ports and are ideal for mission critical applications.
Before you connect a zero client to a PCoIP system, be aware of
the following information.
1.1 Terminology
The DXZ4 security edition zero client is referred to in this manual
as one of two models:
DXZ4-A:
The standard security edition zero client has two RJ45
network ports;
DXZ4-AM:
This model has two network ports that accept
either a fiber or copper SFP module (see
and
Note:
This manual may use ‘DXZ4-A’ when referring to all
models in general. If there is a specific difference, the manual
will reference the DXZ4-AM by name.
1.2
Extended network connectivity
The DXZ4-A and DXZ4-AM zero clients both have two network
ports, compared to the single network port of the standard DXZC
zero client. The two network ports can be utilized for traffic or
network redundancy. The DXZ4-A has two RJ45 ports for copper
connections, whereas the DXZ4-AM has two ports that accept
SFP modules for copper or fibre.
1.3
Power supply
Amulet Hotkey DXZ4-A and DXZ4-AM zero clients are supplied
with a mains to DC power supply that self-senses the incoming
voltage (110-240V AC). This power supply has a locking DC
connector for use with the zero client. To release the connector,
pull the locking sleeve away from the rear of the zero client.
Important!
Use only this power supply with the product.
1.4 SFP modules
Amulet Hotkey can provide a range of suitable SFP modules,
including 1Gbps and 100Mbps fiber SFP modules for single or
multi-mode fiber and copper SFP modules with RJ45 connectors.
See the Amulet Hotkey
for details of
currently available modules.
Be aware that SFP modules have differing specifications, and
the distances over which they can drive a signal can vary. This
especially applies to fiber SFP modules.
Important!
The DXZ4-AM only supports certain models of
SFP module. If in doubt, contact Technical Support for advice.
1.5 LED status indicators
The DXZ4-A has status LEDs on the front and rear panels:
•
front panel LEDs show the status of the PCoIP connection
and the power status. See
;
•
rear panel LEDs associated with the RJ45 or SPF network
connection indicate current network activity. See

Firmware revisions
PCoIP devices operate on embedded code known as firmware.
The firmware is constantly being improved and periodically
updated. To check the current version of firmware of any PCoIP
device, use the On Screen Display (OSD) or Administrative Web
Interface (AWI) management tools built into the PCoIP hosts and
zero clients. See
1.12 Zero client management tools
for details.
1.6.1
Firmware updates
Amulet Hotkey periodically release new firmware to support
continuous improvement of its products. We send update notifi
-
cation emails to nominated client representatives and include a
link to download a file containing the firmware update.
We recommend that you apply new firmware releases at the
earliest opportunity to make sure the latest improvements
and patches are active in any deployment. The latest firmware
release and instructions on how to update the zero client are
available in the
area of the Amulet Hotkey website.
