9 Preloading of Telegrams
Since battery-operated, bi-directional devices normally, for reasons of energy efficiency, only
open a very short RX window after having transmitted a telegram it is possible to preload a reply
telegram into the module in order to reduce the reply duration. If subsequently a telegram with
matching address is received, the pre-loaded telegram will be transmitted automatically and
with a minimum delay by the RF module.
Also see paragraph 7.12 with the respective commands.
If data needs to be transmitted to a meter, it may be attempted without the prior reception of a
telegram. This only works if the meter is permanently in receive mode. If there is no subsequent
reply from the meter the telegram was not received. If the telegram to be transmitted is now pre-
loaded the module waits for an incoming telegram. If a telegram is now received by the meter,
the preloaded telegram is transmitted by the module within the receiving frame. The sending of
the preloaded telegram is acknowledged on the user interface. Hereupon the host can preload
the next telegram in order to uphold the bidirectional communication.
