FLASH NEW FIRMWARE IN THE DLM-600 (BIOS FLASH)
When the DLM-600 must be equipped with new firmware then the DLM-600 must be connected to a
computer / laptop with the Renesas Flash Tool software using the programming cable (art.code.
003834).
Note:
If this is the first time that you use this flash tool on your PC, you must install the software first.
See Appendix A for installation instructions.
Note:
If the DLM-600 functions properly then there is no reason to upgrade the firmware. It is advisable
to refrain from upgrading to a newer firmware version, if in doubt contact the sales department
Alphatronics.
Note:
After installing new firmware, the entire programming and operation of the DLM-600 should be
fully inspected!
Note:
When flashing new firmware it is strongly advised to disconnect the battery pack from the main
board!!
To flash new firmware, the installer must possess the following:
o
Computer with RS-232 port (or via a USB to serial converter)
o
Serial cable (Art.code. 003834)
o
Renesas flash tool software (free download Alphatronics website)
o
Firmware update file (free download Alphatronics website)
Power down the DLM-600 dialer.
Connect the serial cable between the PC and the "RS-232 boxed header J8. This connector is located
right top hand corner on the PCB.
Place the J43 and J44 jumpers in the ‘flash mode’. For jumper J43 the top right pins should be
connected and for J44 the left two pins should be connected.
Place a jumper over the J40 (PRG) pins.
Now power up the DLM-600. The LEDs can illuminate up randomly, this is caused by the 'flash' state of
the processor.
Note:
When flashing, the battery pack should be disconnected from the main board!!!
