Direct Connection
1. Insert the RS232 Serial Cable’s modular phone plug into
the Controller’s phone jack marked PC Direct.
• See Figure 5.
2. Plug the DB 9-pin serial connector into the computer’s
serial port.
NOTE: Install a USB/Serial adapter if the com-
puter does not have a serial port. Iogear model
GUC232-A or equivalent is recommended.
Should additional cable be required, the total length should
not exceed 50 feet (15.2 m). See Figure 6 for schematic.
Modem Connection
1. Plug one end of a phone cord into the Controller’s phone
jack marked Phone Line.
• See Figure 5.
2. Plug the other end into a telephone wall jack.
3. Install a phone cord from the computer’s modem to a
telephone wall jack.
Jumper
Remove the Jumper from its single terminal post storage
location and reinstall onto both terminal posts. See Figure 5.
This activates the battery used to power the memory should
a power outage occur.
Complete the Hardware Installation
Secure the Controller’s cover to the case.
• Do not over-tighten the screws.
