Port Menus
Port Information
The Port Information screen displays the port status, link state, the communication
speed and duplex mode, as well as the flow control in use. To change any of the port
settings, use the Port Configuration menu. The parameters are shown in the
following figure and table.
Parameter
Description
Admin Status
Shows if the port is enabled or not.
Link Status
Indicates if the port has a valid connection to an external device.
Speed Status
Shows the port speed (10M, 100M or 1000M).
Duplex Status
Displays the current duplex mode.
Flow Control Status
Shows the flow control type in use. Flow control can eliminate frame loss by
“blocking” traffic from end stations connected directly to the switch. Back pressure
is used for half duplex and IEEE 802.3x for full duplex. Note that flow control
should not be used if a port is connected to a hub.
Security Status*
Indicates the port’s security status:
Disable - security is disabled on the port.
Learning - the port is currently learning MAC addresses to “lock-in” for secure
access.
Secured - the port has learned MAC addresses, or has them statically configured
and is operating in secure mode.
Locked - port has been disabled due to a security violation (only when the security
action is set to disable).
* For more information, see “Port Security Configuration” on page 3-38.
