IPA3000C01

The minimum buffer time to ensure seamless switching should be at least 50ms, as
this is the time required to detect a loss of signal by the frame synchronization error
detectors.

4.6. Redundant IP transmitter mode

Two IPA3000C01 modules can be configured with the same IP parameters so that they
deliver one multicast IP stream with redundancy that cannot be duplicated at any time.
This is done by correctly interconnecting the GPIO's of the two modules so that each
module signals its status to the other while monitoring the other's status.

Two redundant operating modes exist. In one, both modules have the same priority,
whereas in the other, one of the modules is the main module with higher priority than
the other, known as the reserve. The first mode minimizes the switching because one
module will not begin transmitting until the other fails. The second mode guarantees
the IP stream transmitted comes from the main module as long as it has a valid signal at
one of its inputs.

In either of the two modes, the streams being transmitted should be configured with the
same parameters and the modules should activate their "All errors silence the output"
controls.

The correct way to interconnect and configure the modules for each of the two
redundant modes is as follows:

No priority method

First, a cross-connection of the GPIO's of both modules should be made. To do this,
connect the GPO of each module to the external error input GPI's of the other
module.

Second, invert the polarity of the GPO's of both modules using the control software
so that an absence of signal at the output of one module or a module's failure is
indicated by an open circuit.

Finally, configure the "Recovery Time" value to greater than 100ms to ensure that no
simultaneous transmission between the two modules can occur.

With priority method

First, connect the GPO of the main module to the external error input GPI of the
reserve module.

Second, invert the polarity of the main module's GPO using the control software so
that an absence of signal at the output of one module or a module's failure is
indicated by an open circuit.

Finally, configure the "Output Activation Delay” and the "Recovery Time” values to
greater than 100ms each to ensure that no simultaneous transmission between the
two modules can occur.
