Settings (continued)
Current Status
Displays the current status, “up” or “down,” of the radio port. This field can also display “error,”
meaning that the port is operating but is in an error condition.
Packet Forwarding
Read and set the forwarding capability of the port, either “Enabled” or “Disabled”. If Disabled, data
will not move between the Ethernet and the radio. If Enabled, then the condition is determined by the
setting for the Forwarding State.
Forwarding State
Read and set the immediate functioning state with seven possible conditions:
Unknown
The state cannot be determined.
Disabled
Forwarding capabilities are disabled.
Blocking
The port is blocking transmission. This is the state when no stations are associated.
Listening
This setting only applies to wireless Bridges, not AP’s.
Learning
This setting only applies to wireless Bridges, not AP’s.
Forwarding
The port is operating and forwarding packets. This is the default setting.
Broken
This state reports radio failure.
Role in Radio Network
The pull-down menu allows one of two selections for the role of this port:
Access Point/Root
A wireless LAN transceiver that connects an Ethernet network with wireless client stations.
Repeater/Non-Root
A station (typically an Access Point) that transfers data between a client and another Access
Point. Use this setting for Access Points
not
connected to an Ethernet network.
Client/Non-root
A station with a wireless connection to the AP. This setting can be useful when using an AP
for diagnostics on another AP.
Use Aironet Extensions
Choose yes or no to use Aironet 802.11 extensions. These extensions improve the AP’s ability to
understand the capabilities of clients associated with it.
