DHCP Requested Lease Duration (min)
The length of time requested by the AP for an IP address lease from your DHCP server.
Data Beacon Rate (DTIM)
This setting, always a multiple of the beacon period, determines how often the beacon contains a traffic
indicator map (TIM). The TIM alerts stations in sleep state to stay awake long enough to receive their
data frames.
Data Rates (Mb/sec)
The range of data transmission rates supported by a device, measured in megabits per second.
Default Help Root URL
The location of the AP’s help files.
Default Web Root URL
The location of the AP’s website-related files.
Domain Name Server
Network server that translates text names to IP addresses.
Domain Name System (DNS)
Provides names for computers using alphanumeric characters instead of the numbers IP addresses use.
Maintains a database of the host alphanumeric names and their corresponding IP addresses.
Domain Suffix
The portion of the full name of a station in the IP domain which will be trimmed for display purposes.
Duplicate Packets
Packets that were received twice because an acknowledgement got lost and then the sender
retransmitted the packet.
Ethernet
The most widely used wired local area network. Ethernet uses carrier sense multiple access (CSMA) to
allow computers to share a network, and operates at 10, 100, or 1000 Mbps, depending on the physical
layer used.
FTP (File Transfer Protocol)
A method for sending and receiving files using an ID and password between stations in a network.
File Server
A repository for files so that a local area network can share files, mail and programs.
Filtered Packets
Packets that were stopped or screened by the filters set up on the port.
Firmware
Software that is programmed on a memory chip and kept in a computer’s semipermanent memory.
Also, a security capability that can be assigned to a user.
