Flow Control
The way that information is sent between pieces of equipment to prevent loss of data when too much
information arrives at the same time on one machine.
Fragmentation Threshold
The size at which packets will be fragmented, and transmitted a piece at a time instead of all at once.
The setting must be within the range of 64 to 2312 bytes.
Gateway
A device that connects two otherwise incompatible networks together.
GMT Offset
The time zone offset from Greenwich Mean Time, measured in hours.
Identification
Security rights that allow the specified user to change the AP’s identity settings (MAC address, IP
address, and SSID).
IEEE
Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers
".ini" file
A text file consisting of names of system objects and their values. Often accessed during system start-
up.
Infra. (Infrastructure)
The wired Ethernet network.
IP Address
The Internet Protocol (IP) address of a station.
IP Subnet Mask
The number used to identify the IP subnetwork, indicating whether the IP address can be recognized on
the LAN or if it must be reached through a gateway.
Installation Keys
The AP’s firmware licenses, issued by Aironet.
LLC (Logical Link Control)
Indicates that a protocol is IEEE 802.2 compliant.
Lifetime Exceeded
Fragmented packet is dropped because it took too long to receive or transmit the next fragment.
MAC Address
The Media Access Control (MAC) address is a unique serial number assigned to a networking device
by the manufacturer.
