Hardware Overview

Agilent 93000 SOC Series User Training Part 1, October 2004

Manipulator

The SOC Series standard system comes with a manipulator, which

allows to move the testhead around the X-Y-Z axes and to swivel the

testhead around the Y-axis by ±90°. Using the manipulator, you can

easily move the testhead to any desired position

For example, the manipulator facilitates the docking procedure to a

handler or to a wafer prober, or—in the lab environment—allows loading

devices manually by maintaining the testhead in a balanced state.

Some of the manipulator’s degrees of freedom are implemented more

than once to allow both, coarse and fine adjustments.

Testhead features supporting

Manipulator

When mounted to the fork held by the manipulator arms, the testhead

offers a variety of features to support the manipulator adjustment:

• Vertical positioning may be achieved by pushing the head, or using a

hand crank or a motor.

The manipulator can be motorized. If it is equipped with a motor, it

comes with a handheld remote control unit to control the vertical

movement, and docking to a handler or wafer prober. The remote

control is connected to the manipulator rack via cable.

• It also features a pneumatic docking system capable of reliably

compressing the over 3000 pogo pins possible in a 1024 pins

testhead to the load board pads.

• It has hand locks and stops at most common positions.

• It can compensate for droop due to the weight of the testhead.
