Programming the Attenuator
Setting the GPIB Address
7.2 Setting the GPIB Address
You can only set the GPIB address from the front panel. See
“Setting the GPIB Address” on page 67.
The default GPIB address is 28.
7.3 Returning the Instrument to Local Control
If the instrument has been operated in remote the only keys you can
use are Locala and E
NB
/D
IS
. The Local key returns the instrument
to local control. Local does not operate if local lockout has been
enabled. E
NB
/D
IS
enables and disables the output from the
attenuator. E
NB
/D
IS
does not operate if
SHUTTER
is set to
LOCKOUT
(see “Locking Out Enb/Dis” on page 72).
7.4 How the Attenuator Receives and Transmits
Messages
The attenuator exchanges messages using an input and an output
queue. Error messages are kept in a separate error queue.
How the Input Queue Works
The input queue is a FIFO queue (first-in first-out). Incoming bytes
are stored in the input queue as follows:
1. Receiving a byte:
a. Clears the output queue.
