6.11 SHUTTING THE WATER HEATER DOWN FOR AN EXTENDED PERIOD OF
TIME

If the heater is to be taken out of service for an extended period of time (one year or more),
complete the following instructions.

Extended Period Shut-Down

1. Set

ON/OFF

switch on the front panel to the

OFF

position to shut down the heater’s

operating controls.

2. Disconnect AC power from the unit.

3. Close the water inlet and outlet valves to isolate unit.

4. Close external gas supply valve.

5. Open relief valve to vent water pressure.
