Chapter 3 The Engine of the PPC-102: the PCM-5865

3.5 VGA Interface
The PCM-5865’s PCI SVGA interface can drive conventional CRT
displays and is capable of driving a wide range of flat panel displays,
including electroluminescent (EL), gas plasma, passive LCD and active
LCD displays. The board has two connectors to support these displays,
one for standard CRT VGA monitors and one for flat panel displays.
3.5.1 CRT display port (I/O port)
Refer to Section 2.4.6 for detailed information.
3.5.2 Flat panel display connector (CN5)
CN5 consists of a 44-pin, dual-in-line header. Power supply (+12 V)
present on CN5 depends on the supply connected to the board. Ensure
that CN2 is connected for +12 V power supply.
The PCM-5865 provides a bias control signal on CN5 that can be used to
control the LCD bias voltage. It is recommended that the LCD bias
voltage not be applied to the panel until the logic supply voltage (+5 V or
+3.3 V) and panel video signals are stable. Under normal operation, the
control signal (/ENVEE) is active low. When the PCM-5865’s power is
applied, the control signal is low until just after the relevant flat panel
signals are present.
Refer to Section 4.4 for CN5's pin assignment.
