Troubleshooting
IF SELF TEST FAILS
When the ISU 512e powers up, it performs an internal self test. This
takes approximately 10 seconds. At the end of the test, the front panel
displays

is not displayed,
perform the following procedure to verify whether the problem can be
solved locally:
1. Ensure the ISU 512e is receiving power and is switched ON.
2.
Turn OFF the ISU 512e; while holding the
0
key, power up the
ISU 512e. Continue holding
0
for approximately 30 seconds, until
the unit powers up. This resets all the internal settings to factory
defaults except

C
ODE
, LDN s, and
SPID s.
3. If the ISU 512e still does not pass self test, call ADTRAN Techni-
cal Support (see the last page of this manual).
IF AN ISDN NETWORK LINE READS DOWN
When the ISU 512e has been set up and connected to ISDN lines, and
the front panel displays

for any of the network ISDN lines, use
the following troubleshooting procedure:
1. Cycle power on the ISU 512e, leaving it OFF for a minimum of 2
seconds.
2. If R
EADY
is not displayed after waiting another full minute, dis-
connect the ISU 512e from the ISDN line. Using a functioning
voice phone, call the local directory number(s) provided with the
ISDN line. Calling a good ISDN line with nothing connected usu-
ally results in a ring or fast busy tone. If the call is completed or a
