To clean the lens, unscrew the black plastic
nosecone from the sensor to expose the
protective glass lens cover as shown in
Figure 10. Then, using lint-free cloth and a
small amount of distilled water, carefully
clean the cover glass and wipe it dry.
Do
not use commercial cleaners, lens
cleaning fluids, or abrasives as they can
scratch the surface or leave contaminants
on it.
You should also remove any lint or
dust from the interior of the nosecone

. Once
the lens is dry, replace the nosecone over
the sensor assembly and turn until it is hand-
tight.
Do not force the nosecone - you may
strip the threads. It should screw down
smoothly.
When done cleaning, you should recalibrate the instrument. This will require the use of
the calibration target. If you have not read the section on calibration checking above you
should do so now. The full calibration procedure is as follows:
Get the unit to the
Ready-to-Measure
state by performing a power cycle if necessary.
Press the square
MODE
key, resulting in a message:
Now press the
UP
arrow key, causing the instrument to display:
Press the square
MODE
key and the display will show:
Next press the
DOWN
arrow key once and the display shows the message:

If the nosecone is damaged or becomes contaminated with paint, it should be replaced.
