Both numeric and alpha characters are programmed into each dial pad key.
Review the following hints to help you successfully enter names, numbers,
and special characters.
If the second letter you wish to enter is on the same key or is the same
letter, press

before entering the second letter. If the next letter is on a
different key, simply press that key the required number of times. Press
>
to add a space. Press
[
to change to upper case; press
]
to change to lower
case. The first letter of each word after a space is automatically capitalized.

To enter specific letters, numbers or special characters, review the
following table and example.
Example:
To enter the name Debbie:
1 Press 3 once (=D - automatically capitalized)
2 Since e is on the same key as D, press

and then press 3 twice (=e)
3 Press 2 twice (=b)
4 Since b needs to be entered twice, press

and then press 2 twice (=b)
5 Press 4 three times (=i)
6 Press 3 twice (=e)

— Letters and numbers are printed directly onto the Handset keys;
special characters are not.
— If letters display as lower case letters when entering names, use

switch to CAPITAL letters. When entries are in CAPITAL letters, use

to switch to lower case.
