To Configure Advanced SIP Settings
Use the following procedures to configure the Advanced SIP Settings on the BluStar 8000i.
Real-time Transport Protocol (RTP) Settings
Real-time Transport Protocol (RTP) is used as the bearer path for voice packets sent over the IP network. Information in
the RTP header tells the receiver how to reconstruct the data and describes how the bit streams are packetized (i.e.
which codec is in use). Real-time Transport Control Protocol (RTCP) allows endpoints to monitor packet delivery, detect
and compensate for any packet loss in the network. SIP and H.323 both use RTP and RTCP for the media stream, with
User Datagram Protocol (UDP) as the transport layer encapsulation protocol.
You can set the following parameters for RTP on the BluStar 8000i:
•
sip out-of-band dtmf
•
sip dtmf method
Out-of-Band DTMF
The BluStar 8000is support out-of-band Dual-Tone Multifrequency (DTMF) mode according to RFC2833. The "
out-of-
band DTMF
" parameter is enabled by default. In out-of-band mode, the DTMF audio is automatically clamped (muted)
and DTMF digits are not sent in the RTP packets.
DTMF Method
Sets the dual-tone multifrequency (DTMF) method used on the BluStar 8000i to send DTMF digits from the BluStar 8000i
via INFO messages. You can set the DTMF method as RTP, SIP info, or both. Default is 0 (RTP).
RTP Encryption
The BluStar 8000i includes support for Secure Real-time Transfer Protocol (SRTP), using Session Description Protocol
Security (SDES) key negotiation, for encryption and authentication of RTP/RTCP messages sent and received by the BluS-
tar 8000i on your network.
You can choose the following three levels of SRTP encryption:
•
SRTP Disabled
(default): BluStar 8000i generates and receives nonsecured RTP calls. If the BluStar 8000i is called from
a SRTP enabled BluStar 8000i, it ignores SRTP tries to answer the call using RTP. If the receiving BluStar 8000i has SRTP
only enabled, the call fails; however, if it has SRTP preferred enabled, it will accept RTP call.
•
SRTP Preferred
: BluStar 8000i generates RTP secured calls, and accepts both secured and non-secured RTP calls. If the
receiving BluStar 8000i is not SRTP enabled, it sends non-secured RTP calls instead.
•
SRTP Only
: BluStar 8000i generates and accepts RTP secured calls only. All other calls are rejected (failed).
