3. Installation
Note:
it is not necessary to configure the power of the load or any other parameter The system is already factory-configured by the manufacturer.
Fixing
1)
Position the Power Reducer in such a way that it will always be properly ventilated. Install the device vertically (cable glands facing
downwards), ensuring a clearance of at least 7 cm, top and bottom (fig. 2).
2)
Fix the Power Reducer to the wall with Ø 6 mm masonry plugs, using the holes indicated in fig. 2
Connections
3)
Shut off the electricity supply to the installation site and check that the water heater / storage tank is not powered up
4)
Make the electrical connections as indicated in the installation diagram (fig. 3)
5)
Refit and secure the protective cover
First power-up
6)
Switch on the Power Reducer
7)
When the device is powered-up, check that all of the indicator Leds (fig. 1) blink for 2 seconds, and that the green Led then lights
up in blink mode. NOTE: if a sequence of 3 beeps is heard at power-up, this means that the CT is positioned the wrong way round.
Accordingly, switch off the Power Reducer and turn the CT through 180 degrees.
Check installation
8)
Select Boost mode by pressing the button on the Power Reducer (see fig. 1)
9)
Position a current clamp as illustrated in figure 3 and check that the current measurement matches the maximum power
consumed by the resistive load
10) Press the button to return the Power Reducer to normal operating mode.
Operation
Power output supplied to the resistive load is modulated continuously by the Power Reducer SA so as to exploit surplus energy produced by the
photovoltaic system. Power boost mode (100% output) can be forced by pressing the button or closing the auxiliary control contact (see fig 3).
4. Response of Leds (table 1)
Led
Status
Meaning
Green
Permanently
alight
Power Reducer active in wrong operating mode (see table 2 for “Change operating mode” function)
Blink
Energy monitored by the CT: the faster the blink frequency, the greater the surplus energy measured
Yellow
Blink
Partial load
Permanently
alight
100% load (maximum power consumption)
Off
Load off
Red
Permanently
alight
Boost function active
Blink
At power-up only: 3 3 beeps, when the device is switched on, indicate that the CT is the
wrong way round. Check that the CT wires are connected as in the installation diagram (see fig 3)
Off
Power modulation active
